Differential Reinforcement
Differential reinforcement is a strategy that strengthens a desired behavior by providing positive rewards while withholding reinforcement for an unwanted or interfering behavior. Instead of using punishment, this approach helps an unwanted behavior fade naturally because it no longer works to get the person what they want.
Why It Works
Proactive and Positive: It focuses on teaching a new skill or positive choice rather than relying on aversive consequences.
