About Safe Space Neurobehavioral Clinic
A Place to Feel Safe, Seen and Supported
Every child deserves to be understood. Every family deserves to be heard.
Safe Space Neurobehavioral Clinic LLC was founded with a deeply personal purpose: to create a welcoming place where children’s differences are respected, their strengths are celebrated, and families have a meaningful voice in their support.
We recognize that seeking help for your child can bring hope, uncertainty, and many questions. You may be navigating a new diagnosis, looking for support with everyday challenges, or wondering what comes next. Wherever your family is in that journey, we want our relationship to begin with listening.
Our purpose is to support communication, learning, everyday skills, and emotional well-being in ways that reflect each child’s needs and what matters to their family.
Maricris Goatcher
Founder, Safe Space Neurobehavioral Clinic LLC
Hello, I’m Maricris—I am a Pediatric Occupational Therapist and a mother of three, an advocate for children and families, and the founder of Safe Space Neurobehavioral Clinic.
Two of my children are on the autism spectrum and that has deepened my understanding of the joys, challenges, and everyday realities of raising children with different strengths and support needs. I know what it means to celebrate progress that others might overlook, to arrive at an appointment with a heart full of questions, and to keep advocating when the path ahead feels uncertain.
Alongside my experience as a parent, I bring 18 years of combined experience supporting children with special needs across school, clinic, and home settings. I hold two bachelor’s degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts. I also hold three separate Diplomas in Learning Disorder Management, Child Psychology, and Child Counseling, I am also a member of the College of Teachers in the United Kingdom. I also hold additional Certifications in Health Care. My further training includes Neuroscience, Neuroplasticity, and Developmental and Behavioral approaches.
My professional experience spans Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, and the United States. Working across countries and cultures has shaped my appreciation for the different ways families communicate, nurture their children, and approach learning and care. I bring that multicultural perspective to Safe Space Neurobehavioral Clinic, with a commitment to listening respectfully and understanding each family’s values, traditions, and everyday experiences.
My background brings together an understanding of child development, creative ways of supporting learning, and a deep respect for each child’s individuality. Through both parenting and professional experience, I have learned that meaningful support begins with understanding how a child communicates, what brings them joy, and what helps them feel safe.
I have also learned that families bring knowledge that no assessment can fully capture. Your observations, your concerns, and your hopes for your child deserve a place in every conversation about their support.
I founded Safe Space Neurobehavioral Clinic to create a welcoming place where professional knowledge and families’ lived experiences inform care together—where children’s strengths are recognized and parents feel heard, respected, and involved.
My hope is that you feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, and celebrating your child exactly as they are. Together, we can support their growth while honoring the person they already are.
Meet our Founder
Your Child’s Strengths. Your Family’s Voice.
Understanding comes first.
We take time to learn about your child’s interests, strengths, communication, and everyday experiences.
Goals should matter in daily life.
Support should connect with meaningful activities—expressing a need, joining in play, learning something new, or participating more comfortably in family routines.
Families are partners.
Your observations, priorities, and questions help shape the direction of support. We value open conversations about progress and what feels practical at home.
Every child deserves respect.
We honor individual differences, make room for different ways of communicating and participating, and recognize that progress looks different for every child.
Our Approach
Dedicated with love to Max, Lucy, and Brandon— who continue to teach me about love, patience, courage, and the many ways a person can grow.
And to every child I have had the privilege of supporting throughout my career, and every family who has welcomed me into their journey, within therapy settings and beyond.
Your trust, your stories, and the moments we have shared helped shape the heart of Safe Space. This clinic is a dedication to you, and a commitment to carry those lessons forward with care.
With gratitude,
Maricris
